Physics and Star Trek
Among my favorite pastimes, I enjoy inventing explanations for the "science" in various works of science fiction—especially Star Trek—based on what we know about physics today. The sections presented below offer two such attempts. Select one to learn more about it.
Relativity and FTL Travel
The "Relativity and FTL Travel" FAQ is a solid, easy to follow introduction to relativity combined with a discussion of the problems and implications of faster-than-light travel.
You can activate the button to the left to jump to the main Relativity and FTL Travel web page.
You can also use the Quick Navigation menu to the left at the top to jump straight to any part of the FAQ. Select "Other Formats" in that menu to read about the various formats (e.g. plain text) in which the FAQ is offered.
Subspace Physics
This document offers a fictional exploration of how subspace and warp might be imagined to work while still preserving principles such as momentum and energy conservation
You can activate the button to the left to jump to the main Subspace Physics web page.
You can also use the Quick Navigation panel to the left to jump straight to either the HTML or the plain text formats of the document.
